PDF Reader - Editor & Scanner

Introduction

Welcome to our PDF Reader application ("the App"). We understand the importance of personal information to you and are committed to protecting your privacy and security. This Privacy Policy is formulated in compliance with major global privacy protection laws and regulations, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and applicable local data protection laws. It aims to clearly and comprehensively explain what information we collect when you use the App, how we use it, under what circumstances we share it, how we protect it, and the rights you have.

This Policy applies to all versions of the App and related services. Please read the entire Policy carefully before using the App. If you do not agree with any terms of this Policy, please stop using the App immediately. Your use of the App constitutes your full understanding and acceptance of all terms of this Policy.

1. Scope of Information Collected and Purposes of Use

The App is a purely local utility product that does not require account registration and does not mandate you to provide any personally identifiable information. We do not proactively collect information that can directly identify you, such as your full name, ID number, phone number, email address, or mailing address. We only collect the following categories of necessary non-personally identifiable information to ensure the normal operation of the App, optimize product experience, and provide advertising services, as detailed below:

1.1 Automatically Collected Anonymous Technical and Usage Information

When you use the App, we automatically collect the following anonymous information through built-in statistics and crash analysis tools. None of this information can be linked to your personal identity:

  1. Basic Device Information: Device brand, manufacturer, model, operating system name and version, screen resolution, CPU architecture, memory size, storage capacity, and network connection type (e.g., Wi-Fi / mobile network). This information is used to adapt the App to different devices and system versions, troubleshoot compatibility issues, and ensure stable operation on your device.
  2. App Usage Information: App version number, feature click frequency, page access path, feature usage duration, operation step statistics, and app launch and exit times. This information is used to understand user habits, optimize feature layout and interaction experience, and prioritize the iteration of frequently used features.
  3. Crash and Exception Logs: App crash time, crash scenario, exception stack information, and device status information. This information is used to quickly locate program errors, fix vulnerabilities, and improve the stability and security of the App.

1.2 System Permission Application and Usage Instructions

The App strictly follows the "minimum necessary" principle when requesting system permissions. All permissions are requested via pop-up windows only when you actively trigger the corresponding function, and are never invoked silently in the background or misused. The purposes of each permission are as follows:

  1. Camera Permission
  2. Storage / Photos and Files Permission
  3. Internet Permission

1.3 Advertising Service Related Information

The App supports its development and operating costs through advertising. We integrate the Google AdMob advertising service. During ad delivery, Google AdMob may automatically collect the following information. The collection and use of such information is directly controlled by Google and governed by Google's own privacy policy:

  1. Device Advertising ID (AAID): Used for ad frequency capping, ad performance statistics, and personalized ad recommendations.
  2. Approximate Geographic Location: Country/region-level location information derived from IP address, used to display advertising content compliant with local regulations.
  3. In-app Ad Interaction Behavior: Ad clicks, ad display duration, ad conversion, and other data, used to optimize ad delivery performance.

You can reset your advertising identifier or opt out of personalized ads in your device system settings. After opting out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.

2. Core Principle: File Data is Processed Entirely Locally

All your document content is stored and processed exclusively on your personal device. This is our core privacy commitment.

  1. All PDFs generated by scanning, imported local documents, edited and annotated content, and format-converted files are saved entirely in your device's local storage.
  2. All processing operations such as PDF editing, merging, splitting, format conversion, compression, and decryption are completed locally on your device through algorithms. The entire process does not go through our servers, and we never proactively read, access, or store any of your file content.
  3. We never use any of your document content for data analysis, algorithm training, or any other commercial purposes.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. We may only share necessary information in the following limited circumstances:

3.1 Sharing with Third-Party Service Providers

To achieve the core functions and normal operation of the App, we share anonymous information with strictly selected third-party service providers. All third parties are required to comply with strict confidentiality obligations and data protection requirements:

  1. Google AdMob (Advertising Service)
  2. Google Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics (Statistics and Crash Analysis)

3.2 Legal Compliance and Rights Protection

We may disclose relevant information in accordance with the law under the following circumstances:

  1. To comply with applicable laws and regulations, judicial proceedings, court orders, or lawful requirements from administrative authorities.
  2. To protect the legitimate rights and interests, property security, or personal safety of us, our users, or the public, within the scope permitted by law.
  3. To respond to fraud, security, or technical issues for risk prevention and investigation.

3.3 Business Transfer

In the event of a merger, acquisition, asset transfer, business restructuring, or other change in corporate entity, your related information may be transferred along with the business. We will notify you via in-app notification or official channels before the change. After the transfer, the information will remain subject to this Privacy Policy or a policy with an equivalent level of protection.

4. Data Security Protection Measures

We attach great importance to information security and adopt reasonable industry-standard technical and administrative measures to protect the collected anonymous information from unauthorized access, leakage, tampering, or loss:

  1. Technical Measures: We implement data encryption transmission, data desensitization, access control, security audits, and other technical means to ensure the security of data during transmission and storage.
  2. Administrative Measures: We establish strict data security management systems, only authorize necessary personnel to access data within their scope of duties, and all personnel are required to sign confidentiality agreements.
  3. Local File Security Reminder: Since your document files are stored locally on your device, we recommend that you keep your device secure, set a device lock screen password, and regularly back up important documents to prevent file leakage due to device loss or damage.

5. Data Retention Period

We only retain relevant information for the shortest period necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected:

  1. Anonymous app usage statistics and crash logs: Retained for 12 months from the date of collection, after which they are aggregated or permanently deleted.
  2. Advertising-related data: Processed and retained by Google AdMob in accordance with its own data retention policy. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.
  3. Your local document files: Retention and deletion are at your sole discretion. We do not keep copies on any server.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on the applicable laws in your region, you have the following privacy rights, and we will legally cooperate with you in exercising these rights:

  1. Right to Information and Access: You have the right to know the types, purposes, and sharing of information we collect; and to request a copy of the information we hold about you.
  2. Right to Rectification: If you believe the information we hold about you is inaccurate, you have the right to request correction.
  3. Right to Erasure / Right to be Forgotten: Under circumstances prescribed by law, you have the right to request the deletion of your related information.
  4. Right to Withdraw Consent and Permission Management: You can enable or disable camera, storage, and other permissions at any time in your device system settings; you can also reset your advertising identifier or opt out of personalized ads. Withdrawing permissions or consent may make corresponding functions unavailable, but will not affect your use of other features.
  5. Right to Lodge a Complaint: If you have objections to our privacy practices, you have the right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you need to exercise any of the above rights, or have any privacy-related questions or suggestions, please contact us via the contact information at the end of this document. We will review and respond to your request within 15 business days.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is developed for the general public and primarily serves users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a minor under 13, please read this Policy accompanied by your guardian and use the App only with your guardian's consent. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will immediately take measures to delete the relevant information.

8. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Since the servers of the third-party services we use (such as Google AdMob, Firebase) are located in different countries/regions around the world, your anonymous information may be transferred to jurisdictions outside your country/region of residence. We ensure that all cross-border data transfers comply with applicable legal requirements, and protect your information security by entering into standard contractual clauses and requiring recipients to provide an equivalent level of data protection.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

Advertisements displayed in the App may redirect to third-party websites, applications, or services. We are not responsible for the privacy policies, content, or practices of these third parties. We recommend that you read the corresponding privacy policy carefully when accessing third-party services.

10. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time based on product feature iterations, changes in laws and regulations, or regulatory requirements.

  1. After revision, we will publish the latest version within the App or through official channels, and update the effective date.
  2. For material changes (such as changes in the purpose of information collection, new information sharing scenarios, etc.), we will notify you through prominent methods such as in-app pop-ups or notifications.
  3. Please review this policy regularly. Your continued use of the App constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
